Operational Case Officer at the Swedish Customs Control Department

The core operations of the Swedish Customs are divided into four departments: control, customs crime, intelligence, and collection.

The Swedish Customs is now looking for operational case officers for the control department located in Arlanda.

About the position

As a case officer within internal control, your main tasks will be to ensure that companies and individuals comply with customs regulations by reviewing and clearing customs declarations. You will primarily work with import flows.

You will work in the control department's clearance expeditions in uniform or in an office landscape. The work is varied and includes everything from expedition work, various types of administrative tasks, as well as some physical inspections in the form of goods investigations and load controls in transit flows. As a case officer, you will make various forms of authority decisions daily. The work is carried out in several different digital systems and involves contact with companies, individuals, and other authorities. New questions and situations require you as a case officer to be flexible and solution-oriented.

The Swedish Customs is currently undergoing an exciting but extensive transformation to implement a new customs legislation along with new systems. This means that you must be curious and interested in learning new things. It also means that you will need to work with a variety of digital systems and keep track of different legislations.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed upper secondary education and at least three years of work experience, or completed qualified vocational training/college education in forwarding, logistics, economics, law, or studies of at least 60 credits / 90 higher education credits with a focus on forwarding, logistics, economics, law, political science, or other education that the employer deems equivalent
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Swedish driver's license, class B for passenger cars, and good driving experience

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Work experience in case handling or case administration from another public sector, or similar tasks in the private sector
  • Experience in customs-related work in the last ten years, e.g., from the forwarding industry or from operations dealing with foreign trade
  • Experience in service or similar tasks, such as customer contact work
  • A third language, in addition to Swedish and English

Education and employment

The course start for this position is September 30, 2026. During your first months as an employee, you will undergo basic training where theory is mixed with practice. The training will primarily take place at your place of employment as distance education. There will also be in-person meetings that may occur at another location, which will involve some travel and overnight stays. Employment begins with a six-month probationary period. After a successful probationary period, a permanent position will be offered unless otherwise agreed.
